The story of Sid, a man who lives in the slow lane, until fate causes him to take a long hard look at his life. Siddarth Mehra (Ranbir Kapoor) is a lazy, unmotivated slacker from Mumbai who breezes through life with no sense of responsibility or ambition. His mother (Supriya Pathak) drives him mad with her obsession for TV soaps and her incessant nagging, but she still manages to spoil him. His father (Anupam Kher) is focussed on his bathroom fittings business and his vain attempts to get Sid to work with him. Sid takes both his parents and their hard earned wealth for granted. Life changes however, when he crosses paths with Aisha (Konkona Sen Sharma), an aspiring writer from Calcutta who comes to Mumbai to work for a magazine. As they forge an unlikely friendship, a series of unexpected circumstances compel Sid to take stock of his life and discover his true purpose.
